Jody Stern has been a fitness professional for over 30 years and holds a degree in Adapted Physical Education from California State University, Northridge. Jody has been teaching Pilates for nearly 20 years and is BASI faculty.
Jody’s history includes living in Israel in 1986, where she was the Tel Aviv Health Club group exercise coordinator. Upon returning to L.A. in 1990, Jody worked as the stretching coach to the L.A. Clippers basketball team. In 1994 she and her family moved to Phoenix. Shortly after that, she began her Pilates career. In 2000, she became a STOTT Pilates certified instructor through the advanced level in Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. She began her BASI education journey in 2006.
In 2009, she sold her original studio location to a close friend and colleague, Lisa Bettini Moro, and successfully opened the entral Phoenix location. In 2012, Jody and Lisa were honored to train in the BASI method in the inaugural Pro Bridge course with founder, owner, and world-renowned educator, Rael Isacowitz. Jody became a proud BASI graduate in February 2014! She has completed many BASI workshops and advanced education courses, including Injuries and Pathologies. Her on BASI journey continues with the Legacy Program, having completed the Mentor, Master l, and Master ll. Jody completed the fourth and final step with the Honors Program in May 2019!
Pilates is a driving force in Jody’s everyday life, and she continues to grow as a student, teacher, and studio owner. Nothing gives her more pleasure than being able to make a difference and help people of all ages and stages feel better with Pilates!
Jody is an avid swimmer and cyclist and competed since 1982 in running 10k, half-marathon, marathon distances, and sprint and Olympic triathlons.
No longer able to run, Jody feels that she would not have the physical or mental strength to keep moving forward without Pilates!
