Born and bred in South Africa, Sarah Lee Hundermark is a physiotherapist by profession and was honored to become a BASI Faculty member in 2022. She has completed 10 marathons and 5 ultra-marathons.
Soon after qualifying as a physiotherapist, Sarah began her Pilates training and, for the following 20 years, worked as a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor. Sarah has run her private practice for 20 years and founded Core Pilates in Cape Town in 2016. During this time, she converted her interest in sports-specific rehabilitation and working with athletes into one of her areas of specialization.
Sarah has always led a very active lifestyle and is passionate about running. She has completed 10 marathons and 5 ultra-marathons, including an ‘up’ and ‘down’ run of the prestigious South African ultra, the Comrades Marathon. In early 2023 she ran her marathon PB and shortly followed that up with her ultra PB. Although her training has not changed over 20 years, she attributes her running longevity to the strength she’s gained from Pilates.
